Chapter 7 ends.

The third of three pages today.

The second live video chat is now unlive. Had a great time with both, and Read Pictures of You Day was a blast. Since there seems to be a demand for it, we will definitely be doing it again, and I'll let everyone know when! Cheers and thanks to everyone for coming out to celebrate the comic with us. My audience is the best comic audience in history, I love you guys.

Love this page.
It's so mellow after that incredible climax.

jchriselam, February 4th, 2011, 6:30 pm

Mulligan is so real, so objective, so wise it's hard to stand him and impossible to not respect and listen to him. He's ugly and wise, like Yoda. The "skirts" comment was ugly...Was it true...or are they really doing it to themselves, expecting women to be something else?

The first sequence makes it pretty obvious that Peter loses Kara somehow. That will be a big heartbreak for me. Her wisdom has been a shining light lately. Her sparkle has always lit up the page.

Happy Pictures of You day. It's a graphic novel in more ways than one. -- ce

Ah man, I'm gonna miss the 2nd livestream. Though, I'm going to go party with college friends in one of their (fully furnished and lovely) basements, so I'd like to think it's the only excusable reason to miss something PoY related: Going to do something PoY related.

Hapy PoY day everyone. Here's to another year of the best friends we'll ever lose.

Real life is always a good reason to miss fiction. Cheers!

Today is Maggie Cleans Her Apartment Because She's Having A Birthday Tomorrow Day. Tomorrow is Maggie's Birthday Day. And the day after will probably be Read Pictures Of You Day. XD

Ack! I missed the livechat! I stayed up late to catch it, and I missed it.
Man, I just completely suck at calculating time zones... And I was so sure I'd gotten it right :/

Oh well. At least this page is all kinds of awesome. The perfect step-down to all the high-strung conflict of today.

This may not make any sense at all, but I was so excited I had to post:

I don't really consider myself all that good at the writing part of making comics, so recently I decided to take a crack at writing a script for the first time. I had no idea what I was doing, I just kinda winged it. I was all worried that it would come out really dumb, but then I saw your vote incentive on TWC and the format/style is eerily similar to what I ended up settling on for my own script. I dunno, I just found it super encouraging, like I must be doing something right if Gibson Twist does it the same way :3

Happy Read Pictures of You Day!

Gibson Twist, February 4th, 2011, 11:29 pm

I find that, as long you're writing your script in a way that the artist drawing it will understand what you want, then you're doing it write. For folks who illustrate their own words, it can be as simple as some scribbled lines as long as it will conjure in your head what you want yourself to draw. So as long as it works for you, there isn't really a wrong way to do it.

That said, I'm glad you found it encouraging!

It's almost midnight and I've managed to read the entirety or PoL. I'd forgotten how badass this comic really was, from start to finish :)

That was six hours of my life very, very well spent. Thank you for being a genius, Mr. Twist.

Absolutely loved RPOYD and hope for many more in the future along with strips of one of my all-time favorite comics.

yayness (Guest), February 5th, 2011, 2:41 am

Wooo! Three pages, and three very intense pages. I hope everyone on the livestream had a blast (I had an attack of real-life - involving my sister and the Bastard Who Dumped Her evening) I'll try make a marathon through pictures of you over the weekend probably just for kicks, although I might have to re-read the Melanie bit with my eyes-closed...

Skylan2021 (Guest), February 5th, 2011, 3:43 am

Dude, Mulligan should go into politics. That guy knows how shiz works. He's already analyzed the situation from every angle, and he really gets people. Just for him to say "He told the truth." Is already a red flag. Mulligan is a shining beacon of neutrality.

Uncle Nutsy (Guest), February 5th, 2011, 3:52 am

too bad
It's always someone like patrick to take a good thing and ruin it by blowing his top the way he did.

IF patrick was even a little bit more level-headed, this kind of situation would never happen.

ce la vie

Bro-bonding time.

Read and read. Great idea!

sIck, February 5th, 2011, 3:26 pm

I'm so glad that there were multiple updates yesterday...
The suspense from that fight was seriously killing me!
Nooooo... no more One Inch Punch? D:

Maritza (Guest), February 5th, 2011, 7:57 pm

Bad situation all around. Honestly, I like Patrick... I like him a LOT. But he IS pretty judgemental. On the other hand, he's not totally wrong here. Just a wrong approach.

In his mind, Andy just hit Melanie with his irresistible charm and as soon as the thrill wears out she'll be discarded. He said as much. Truth is, Melanie was in a REALLY vulnerable situation, emotionally speaking. Andy unconsciously found himself at advantage. They have a thing going, but Andy's got a bad record. Is Patrick right? Probably, but why not? I mean, it's not like anyone of them has relationships expecting to get married to their partners or something.

What I don't agree with Patrick is going all-nuclear-weapons on Andy without even discussing things with Melanie. Leave her alone! he shouts, as if Melanie had no voice in the matter. This is abusive, even if he doesn't realize it.

The silhouettes with just the burning embers and the smoke for the last panel was perfect for the feeling you left us hanging with after the talk they shared over a pint.

Nice work as always, but this makes me seriously worry about the fate of One Inch Punch *wibble*

Vicki (Guest), February 6th, 2011, 9:19 pm

It's all downhill now
I agree with onyxlight. The last panel was suitably moody to fit the sense that it's all downhill now, just going to unwind. But "we had a good thing going."

sheepling (Guest), February 7th, 2011, 5:09 pm

Today's pages hit close to home. Certainly not dealing with the exact same situation, but a lot of the emotional overtones/tension is the same.

As the "Mel" in my situation I'm curious to see what her reaction is going to be. We know Patrick means a lot to her, and it seems like Andy does too... how will she keep her head above water as it plays out? How can she keep from picking sides? I'm wondering if she'll lose one of them in the end... perhaps Patrick for being so harsh? Or Andy... if he does end up betraying her, or if Patrick makes her choose and she picks him since they are closer and she trusts him.

Hmm... seems like life is the same storylines, over and over. just a new costume here, a new character there, a new motive, a new secret...

Guest, February 9th, 2011, 10:15 am

The first panel really grabbed me, though I can't tell you why. It's so... I don't know...
