TCGC (Guest), April 8th, 2011, 12:36 am

Devon's going to tell Patrick's parents that he's gay now.

I've never had butterflies in my stomach from reading a comic before. Wow.

The_Hankerchief, April 8th, 2011, 12:43 am

Hogan PUNCH! haha

amiko_16, April 8th, 2011, 12:43 am

OHOHO
CATHARSIS

Fromthewoodwork, April 8th, 2011, 12:45 am

Newbie reporting in Sir!
Had to get in on this (love your comic!)

Gotta worry: isn't Devon smarter than this? Aren't MOST people smarter than this? He's plotting something I tells ya! That punch is the end game, and I don't think the good guy behind the punch is gonna come out on top this time. Worst part? At this point Devon doesn't NEED to say Pat is gay - he's in trouble enough as is. But it's DEVON. That kind of guy sees a bad situation for someone he doesn't like, you bet certain as hellfire he'll make it worse.

Can't wait for Monday! Good luck if you decide to try the 5 day schedule: don't overwork yourself please!

Guest, April 8th, 2011, 12:48 am

NICE!

And I'll be sure to tell the ones that are of age and mature enough. As for the rest... "I'll tell them when they're older."

I even tell that line to people who are over 18. XD

gleer (Guest), April 8th, 2011, 12:56 am

Beat him the fuck down! YES. This page is like all of the happiness in the world pressed into one little section of the internet.

ce (Guest), April 8th, 2011, 1:05 am

Consequences
Awesome artwork!

Patrick might now get disowned and have to pay his own rent for a few decades. Also if he's working class, Alexander may leave him.

Totally worth it.

Madock345, April 8th, 2011, 1:40 am

FUCK YES!!!
that is all

reverendjack, April 8th, 2011, 1:57 am

make this into a T-Shirt, please.

guest (Guest), April 8th, 2011, 1:58 am

I don't like Devon by any stretch of the imagination, but this attack was unprovoked. Despite what happened in the recent past, I think this would be considered the first punch, and Patrick might have some consequence coming his way.

Shaz, April 8th, 2011, 2:01 am

I have been really irritated with Patrick lately. But this? Hell yes. I'm so happy to see Patrick punch Devon. Sooo happy.

H0lyhandgrenade, April 8th, 2011, 2:14 am

Devon's getting a peculiar sense of deja vu.

philippe (Guest), April 8th, 2011, 2:15 am

Yeah for Patrick! However so many shit can come of this that I'd be almost tempted to stop reading POY right now to keep this nice feeling :)

Worst thing I see: Devon hits his head on something and dies right here. "less bad": Devon sues the crap out of Patrick (he knows he won't be in trouble for hitting Melanie since that would mean putting Peter at risk). In between: the dad hits Patrick or Patrick hits his dad.

Lita (Guest), April 8th, 2011, 2:19 am

Incidentally
Patrick's new hair only adds to the scene by making it appear that his head is igniting with flames of rage. :} Love it. Of course, he's seriously effed now. As ce already noted, Patrick is probably going to be 1) thrown out of the house, 2) disowned/deprived of his living expenses, and so 3) shortly thereafter, deprived of Alexander, who is only in it for what he can get, after all. Additionally, being confronted with a beaten, pathetic Devon may draw Mel back to him, if she still has mixed feelings. Devon really can't lose much here; as plans go (if it *was* a plan), it's disturbingly clever. :\

Gabelous, April 8th, 2011, 2:22 am

You know...
You all may cheer on Patrick and Peter and that's fine but consider this...

How does it look to the folks?

Honestly for all they know Devon has done nothing and not one but two people have savagely beaten him seemingly unprovoked. It's pretty obvious they don't know Devon is a wife-beater in the making but what they DO know is this "fine upstanding" young man who only wants the best for their little girl is getting beaten on without provocation.

King Anasazi, April 8th, 2011, 2:24 am

Go Patrick !
This page is insanely good !

Oh, the angst !

Lita (Guest), April 8th, 2011, 2:29 am

Lastly
the *only* thing that could make this page more satisfying? a series of slow motion sketches, so I could make a flip book and watch Patrick punch Devon OVER and OVER and OVER... }:}

Titianna (Guest), April 8th, 2011, 2:44 am

HA!
FALCON PUNCH!
GO PATRICK!

But if he doesnt turn to his dad and tell him that Devon was beating the hell out of his sister like every day then I'll be pissed. Since she was 'daddy's little girl' The father obviously didnt know that Devon was beating her. I just hope that Patrick does tell him and that dad then goes balistic and beats the hell out of him too.

Master Morality (Guest), April 8th, 2011, 3:08 am

He finally got to punch him, huh?
Good for patrick.

Can't wait to see his old man's reaction :)

Phoenix (Guest), April 8th, 2011, 3:19 am

HELL YEAH!
KTFO!

O_O (Guest), April 8th, 2011, 3:27 am

FUCK YES. MY WHOLE LIFE IS MADE. THE WHOLE THING.

GET HIM, PATRICK!!!

white4lima, April 8th, 2011, 4:57 am

I find it interesting that no one has considered the sickening truth that Dad may know that Devon was hitting Melanie, and that it may be his opinion that Devon was simply putting her in her place. From the way that Mom was looking in the room from the last panel, it seems likely that Dad may be a wife beater, too.
With these (heh) rose colored lenses on, the story takes on a little more sinister truth. Devon, Mel, and Pat seem to be acting like the young people that they are (hahaha young people, I'm only 23). If there are plans here, it seems likely that they're fueled only by childish selfishness. That's why Melanie told everyone that she's seeing someone else, and that's why Patrick punched Devon, and that's why nobody has said anything about Devon being a woman beater.
Patrick sees this as an opportunity to win his control over his sister back. If he is the only one to save Mel on Christmas, maybe things can go back to how they were and he'll have some leverage to get her to stop dating Andy.

xasswuwe (Guest), April 8th, 2011, 5:10 am

I think the risk of him being sued is low...
Americans are the lawsuit-happy ones, not Canadians. :p

I really do think Devon's going to tell Daddy Hogan that Pat's gay... and you know, him punching some dude in the face doesn't make me less pissed off, or less convinced that he's too controlling of his sister.

NicoleW (Guest), April 8th, 2011, 5:25 am

Not that this panel isn't satisfying (because oh, it is!), but I was kind of hoping to see Melanie stick up for herself -- I wanted her tell Dad that either Devon goes RIGHT NOW or she does, and then tell Devon that any further attempts to contact her will get him a nice gift-wrapped restraining order for Christmas.

As it is, no way does this end well for Patrick.

London-Smyth, April 8th, 2011, 5:57 am

WOO HOO! Now you better RUN before Daddy spanks you!

... so am I the only one that kinda wishes it said "POW" or "WHAM" on it a la Adam West Batman?

Seabass (Guest), April 8th, 2011, 6:05 am

THIS!
can not end well... something HAS to go wrong one way or the other. OH THE SUSPENSE!!!

Erin (Guest), April 8th, 2011, 6:52 am

This is, by far, one of the most satisfying pages in this comic. Patrick just fulfilled the wishes of readers everywhere.

Spar (Guest), April 8th, 2011, 6:54 am

I fall squarely into the redeeming himself in Mel's eyes way of thinking. Yes, he has done vile things as far as emotional manipulation, but when little sis was terrified and dad wouldn't step up, Patrick did.

Guest, April 8th, 2011, 7:29 am

"You know, they say you should never hit a man with a closed fist, but it is, on occassion, hilarious."

Hornet (Guest), April 8th, 2011, 7:45 am

Excellent! Now he needs to lay out pops.

Jeffko (Guest), April 8th, 2011, 7:59 am

Dammit Patrick!
Aw man... Patrick had the upper hand there. I was totally expecting him or Mel to finally tell dad about the beatings, but he just tossed that chance right out the window with that punch, and basically proved himself to be as much of a hot head (get it? 'cuz of his hair cut, yo) than Devon, except Devon can play the victim card here, and rightly so. Of course, as was mentioned above, if daddy was in on the whole daughter beating thing and ultimately OK with it, then this'll get mighty interesting.

Bad move, Patrick. You wanted to lay out the beating that Peter "stole" from you so bad that you're actually helping your worst enemy here.

lsmith2509, April 8th, 2011, 8:49 am

HELL YEAH PATRICK!!!
You know, I was a little afraid because of the flaming hair, but that's the way you stand up! Woot! ^_^

Jenny (Guest), April 8th, 2011, 8:50 am

ABOUT TIME. I love this webcomic, but Devon and Patrick's dad were making me so angry I was close to not reading it again! Thank you for this, I feel very satisfied!

Alphabet Soup (Guest), April 8th, 2011, 9:00 am

EPIC WIN!
Can't say much else about this page :D

Finfan (Guest), April 8th, 2011, 9:37 am

Bad move.
Sorry guys, but as much as Devon deserves this it is a bad move. Patrick may or may not be outed by Devon, but even if he isn't he is going to be financially cut off by his dad. He may also be charged with assault. Of course once the money is gone his boyfriend is going to drop him like a bad habit. No great loss there but it will still be devastating to Patrick.

Errdil (Guest), April 8th, 2011, 10:17 am

FINALLY

Vicki (Guest), April 8th, 2011, 10:17 am

Seriously
Good for Patrick, finally. And there will be consequences.

Second, Mel was doing OK, repeating "it's over" and "make him leave," not bad for someone whose been abused.

Third, if Mel hadn't treated Devon badly, he would not have needed to beat her. (At least, from Devon's point of view and probably Dad's).

Fourth, this comic continues to be awesome. I cannot wait for Monday to see the shit continue to hit the fan.

Snowglare (Guest), April 8th, 2011, 10:35 am

F-F-F-Falcon Punch!

blitz (Guest), April 8th, 2011, 10:39 am

BAM!
right in the kisser.

Los (Guest), April 8th, 2011, 12:00 pm

*ARMS UP* IT'S GOOOOOOOD!!!

phoenixgem, April 8th, 2011, 12:26 pm

ooooh bad move Patrick bad move

rainbowcrayon, April 8th, 2011, 12:47 pm

YEAH PATRICK! This is redeeming him in my eyes, a bit.

Also, what the hell did Devon *think* would happen?

Nikolai (Guest), April 8th, 2011, 1:42 pm

YAY!!!
It's about time, Patrick. Now if dad doesn't get on board ...

sIck, April 8th, 2011, 1:46 pm

Best. Page. Ever.

sharpilyteeth, April 8th, 2011, 2:23 pm

'scuse me, Mr. Twist, but i have two questions. (:
does dad know about the abuse?
and is Karen their stepmom or their bio mom?
http://picturesofyou.smackjeeves.com/comics/484386/2-16-home-for-the-holidays-11/
also, she seems...vastly less perky and ornamental than the last time we saw her.

Hornet (Guest), April 8th, 2011, 2:30 pm

"Third, if Mel hadn't treated Devon badly, he would not have needed to beat her. (At least, from Devon's point of view and probably Dad's)."

Sorry but I really have to disagree there is NO reason for a man to hit a woman, If she was TREATING him so badly just do like the rest of the human race and leave that person.

ESKIMIO (Guest), April 8th, 2011, 2:51 pm

YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Indigo (Guest), April 8th, 2011, 3:33 pm

Well...
On the one hand, very satisfying to see Patrick punch Devon.

On the other hand, I'm getting the vibe Daddy dear knows about the abuse and thinks it's "just putting her in the place" since he likes things his way or no way.

Especially after rereading that page the other guest linked.

I really would've preferred Melanie to say "If you won't make him leave, then I'm leaving"... but like most victims of abuse, being around the abuser puts her right back in the victim position and the old behaviours fall right back into place.

But I hope she steps up if Daddy tries to take Patrick to task for hitting Devon. Because if Daddy really does want the best for his little girl, we'll see what that means once the truth about Devon comes out.

nitecreature, April 8th, 2011, 5:38 pm

patrick ftw!

reidavidson, April 8th, 2011, 6:34 pm

This seems great till you realized Devon's probably one or two pages away from outing Patrick to his parents.

Guest, April 8th, 2011, 6:45 pm

FALCONE- PAAAAAAAUUUUNNNCH!

Foolio (Guest), April 8th, 2011, 9:24 pm

are you out of your mind?
First of all, Devon really needs to learn some martial arts. The guy didn't even have time to put his fists up? Shameful. What's also very shameful is the amount of commentors here that believe in vigilantism. I'm glad this is assault, because I sure as hell wouldn't want every moody teenager to be able to take justice into his own hands.

Barb (Guest), April 8th, 2011, 10:11 pm

I'm pretty certain that if the parents accept that Devon beat Melanie, they're not really about to listen to him trying to claim that Patrick's gay.

Neko with a Katana, April 8th, 2011, 11:47 pm

My blood lust has been sated.

yayness (Guest), April 9th, 2011, 2:32 am

Aaaaand ... there goes patrick's college funding! Looks like you'll need a job buddy, either that or start mooching off that moody czech you hang around with :p

Anotheryaoifreak, April 9th, 2011, 6:48 am

Holy shit.

Patrick just got me all hot and bothered by doing that..... He's so hot.

dangerface, April 9th, 2011, 8:01 am

WOW! Go Patrick!!

DeVelaine (Guest), April 9th, 2011, 2:48 pm

Expected...
Well... I kept mostly silent, but have read over the comments after seeing this rather expected scene. Anyone who's been reading this comic who *didn't* expect this result when the two met clearly hasn't been paying attention to the character development.

Yes, Patrick just made his life more miserable with this. I'm not sure even Melanie can "save" him in this case. However, I don't think there's a one of you who wouldn't do the same thing given the same amount of information Patrick has here. To that end, none of you should be condemning Patrick's actions. I don't advocate that they're right, because the smarter choice would have been for Patrick to take Melanie, leave, and both of them agree to never return to their parents' house. What I do advocate is that this is the most realistic course of action anyone could have taken given the circumstances.

What I haven't expected is to read any posts that, on the surface, imply Devon was in the right for what he did. Maybe I should go back and read the comments on the first page where we were shown the beatings. Maybe someone was...dumb enough to put up a like-minded comment there. No one belongs in an abusive relationship. Not the victim, nor the abuser. Anyone who thinks or implies otherwise clearly has problems of their own.

Mjolnir (Guest), April 9th, 2011, 3:01 pm

Here I am, just getting off work, thinking I'll check in on my favorite webcomics I haven't been able to keep up with this week....oh great, Mr. Twist has left the next scene open for so many scenarios(read: a cliffhanger).....touche Mr. Twist...I will be back Monday for sure.

Nebraska G (Guest), April 10th, 2011, 12:33 am

Building kick-
nuff said-

Dr Light (Guest), April 10th, 2011, 11:30 am

I'm worried Patrick's dad will throw him out of the house, and Patrick won't get a chance to say what Devon did. Then everything will still be afoul for poor Mel.

Menachem, April 10th, 2011, 6:40 pm

As a brand new reader, I must say, it's great that this had to be the latest comic.

Really.

Awesome.

devil's advocate (Guest), April 10th, 2011, 7:53 pm

hell yea!
been waiting for him to do that for a few pages now, took long enough! but with his dad in the same room (and we all know who he likes better) this could get ugly. really fast.

Mithanu (Guest), April 10th, 2011, 10:25 pm

blank
Great freaking story man, stuff is freaking unbelievable. I had this bookmarked for what was going on a year, with how it was starting out I was expecting something depressing, but interesting(at the time I first found it I didn't need anything more depressing in my life which is why I didn't start reading it then). Then I started reading it today and the story just dragged me in, I couldn't stop reading. Just got to this page thinking shit can't wait to see what happens next, clicked next page and realized I had read the entire story in a single day. Thank you for such a great read.

Nekhs, April 10th, 2011, 10:33 pm

So Yeah
On re-reading the relevant chapter again ... Daddy knows.

Maybe he hasn't grasped the full extent of it, but he should know.

http://picturesofyou.smackjeeves.com/comics/894806/3-ii-06-bruises-6/

/late post. /lurk.

Lady Eclectic (Guest), April 11th, 2011, 1:38 am

Tattoo
Everyone's been mentioning that Deven might out Pat about him being gay. I was looking at the tattoo scene's and realised that her parents don't know about that yet and Deven's 'reason' for the attack was that he found out about it. He'll probably bring that up before he outs patrick "If you hadn't gotten that sickening tattoo I wouldn't have had to do it". Something like that...and then Daddy will get pissed...he'll blame Pat...and shit will hit the fan even more.

susanowo (Guest), April 12th, 2011, 6:24 pm

Woo!
I know I'm late but yeAH!
