Is that me? The dude with the serene/eavesdropping look on his face? I say this because he pretty much looks like me except for the missing glasses and the slightly longer hair. And I'm Jean-Francois B., not Francois B. Maybe it's someone else and I just really want to be him. :P If it is me, though, that's pretty much the look I'd have. Ah, Michelle... if you existed, I'd by you a shot n' a brew.
Anyhoo, regardless of identities and all that, I must say that I think Michelle's taking the hostility a bit too far here. I mean, wouldn't it be ruder to just assume she's a stripper, instead of bar staff? Wouldn't it also be rude to assume she strips for anything other than tuition money? Lastly, what's wrong with calling it a strip club. It's what it is, folks. Not a burlesque house, not an exotic dancing establishment, not an ermahgerd titters place, but just a plain ol' strip club. I guess calling it a gentlemen's club would be more politically correct? Frankly, I don't see how someone as blunt as Michelle who takes off her clothes for money would be so offended by this.
@Jeffko: The problem *is* the assumptions. Granted, her shoulder is glacial cold towards him, but the conversation would've been a lot smoother as:
R: Oh where do you work?
M: La Belle Maison.
R: Really? That's that place out east, right? What do you do there?
I cut it there because I can't really predict the level of scathing sarcasm Michelle would use in her reply. Either way, she's seeing right through this guy. And I'd almost bet money that this entire scenario will play out without Lauren once asking herself "Why didn't he put anywhere near that much effort into talking to Sam that one time?"
@Los: I see your point and am very much looking forward to Lauren's reaction to all this. She got pissed at Christo and Sam, but it remains to be seen how she'll deal with this. It is indeed interesting that Rick is putting more effort into his conversation with Michelle, clumsy as this effort may be, than he did with the boys.
