From experience, a bar is among the worst places you can find out that a friend has died.

Because you don't want to cry in public, but you're already drinking and there's no way it's not going to happen.

I'll second that. Found out a buddy of mine got killed in a motorcycle accident at a bar in Anchorage, several years back. And the crying thing is accurate.

I know this is pure coincidence, but I had two friends commit suicide around this time of year, last year and the year before. Please give your characters something I can't have.

I hadn't thought of Mulligan before, but man he can't possibly take this well. Part of me feels like he shouldn't, as big of a jerk as he can be sometimes, but maybe this is what he needs to turn around. I just want everyone to be ok. :(

Not sure there is a really good place but some are worse than others. i was standing at a counter in the Seattle airport when the ICU called to see if I was ready to take my dad off the ventilator....

No matter where you are, there is grief. It is worse if, as in this case, you worry that maybe you could have prevented it. If a person could know the anguish they would leave behind, would it make a difference?

Even the bad guy seems to be in shock.This is what I felt like when a coworker killed himself!You did a good job showing every ones reaction to the news.
