If we're being perfectly honest... people can fuck up once, but TWICE a cheater, always a cheater, because at that point wow even if it's not something they're going out to do specifically they can't even learn from experience to keep themself from doing it.
(Which regardless isn't any requirement for Andy to be okay with it now or even ever, I just also wouldn't blame someone for taking someone back... ONCE.)
Wow...that's wow. Andy just went off! This must have been an intense moment to write. To be in his head.
Also, I get the feeling Melanie is gonna end up rooming with Kara or Sam or someone who is neutral in the situation. Normally Lauren has been the Momma bear and helping everyone but she's living with peter now.
@atma: I don't think that this is something to cheer for, but they really shouldn't share a home at the moment and Andy was the one beeing wronged and Melanie the one doing the wronging, so it's fine to kick her out in my book (let her get her things at a later date). She can always ask a friend to crash on the sofa or take a room in a hotel or something similar, she won't be sleeping in the gutter. Andy was already emotionally vulnerable because of the wake, and then finding out that his partner was cheating on him, with a friend of his no less, is the stuff that drives one to a point where one simply can't care about the wrongdoer at that moment. It is really hard to actually solve things in heated situations like that. People need to cool down to become logical thinkers and capable of understanding the other again, hence the need for space between them.
Once someone has cheated, it's virtually impossible to trust them ever again once that trust has been violated. The few relationships I've seen that have come back from one person's decision to cheat was because there was something bigger in the picture, like years of marriage, kids, etc, which created more reason to try and salvage the relationship.
Andy and Melanie just don't have those multiple years of commitment. Plus, if memory serves, didn't Kara also cheat on him when they were together, and it kind of messed him up for a while? I seem to recall that being why Patrick wasn't a fan of her... If so, that just makes things worse because now Melanie is feeling not only the consequences of her own sins, but also those of Kara's, because all those feelings of betrayal are being dredged up. This is the second time someone has betrayed him so completely, and I don't think he's going to be willing to forgive Melanie for it.
Andy and Peter are the two biggest hypocrites in this web comic.
Andy calling anyone a slut is laughable. He fucked anyone that would let him before Melanie. So his anger isn't really a surprise, it's just a reflection of his past bad decisions taken out on the first woman he's ever actually loved. How dare she not love him as much in return.
As for Peter, he was just a bad friend. He's openly admitted that he was in love with Michelle while she was dating Christo, his "best friend", and was just waiting for them to break up so he could pursue her. His anger at Christo for being a shitty friend to Andy is clearly issues with himself for being a shitty friend.
And never forget, it's fucking college. We all are the worst versions of ourselves, and make the worst decisions during our college years.
@dodger: I don't think those situations are comparable. Sleeping around while not in a relationship is very different from sleeping with people that are not your partner while in a non-open relationship. The only thing that might be relevant would be the Kara-Andy situation, but I am currently not too well informed on how that played out exactly and I don't have the energy to go archivediving at the moment.
And the Peter-Michelle situation is also completely different from the Christo-Jackie situation is different from the Christo-Melanie situation. It would have been better, if Peter and Michelle had waited a little longer before they got together, but them getting together at all is not beeing a shitty friend as they actually cared for each other. Christo screwing with Jackie, a person Peter cares about, and then not treating her right afterwards, which may even have financial consequences for Peter, is beeing a shitty friend. So he was already walking on thin ice. And screwing the girlfriend of a friend is certainly different from getting together with the ex-gilfriend of a friend after they split.
There was no reason for Peter and Michelle to wait. Christo had been sleeping around with dozens of women when this happened. As for Kara, she never even went "steady" with Peter. She wanted to keep it casual until he couldn't take it anymore. And she supposedly didn't care if he slept around while they were a thing, because they were never official, although Peter was always loyal to her.
The small things.
I'd just like to say I really like the background couple in the first frame. It's a small detail, but considering it would have been just as easy to leave the background street empty, it's really nice to see a closer and much more together couple (Maybe they're married, I don't know) placed against the obvious break-up scenario. Really nice juxtaposition.
