A lot of people in the comments are misremembering a lot of things. I know this story is a long time unfolding, it's hard to recall every detail and it's natural to fill in some memory blanks, but try to refrain from adding sexual partners and infidelities to the women while erasing those of the men.

To all of my beautiful audience, please keep two things in mind. First, if it's not on the page, it's not in the comic, so I recommend not trusting someone else's fanfiction. Second, none of these characters are righteous, nor are any of them demons.

It's the immaturity and stupidity of youth. I've seen this crap go down in my friend groups when I was in my twenties. Gibson, I know what you're talking about.

He is an asshole
But honestly christo isn't wrong, she willingly participated and ultimately shares more of the blame then christo (he's still guilty but just a smidge less)

Hand (Guest), April 30th, 2018, 2:43 am

If a man did that to a woman, he'd be charged with assault.

Gibson Twist, April 30th, 2018, 2:53 am

@Hand First, no he wouldn't, don't be absurd. Second, men do a lot worse to women without getting charged with assault.

Gods Dammit People.
Do you want the comment section to be removed again?

While Christo is right that he didn't "make her sleep with him", he was the one that let it slip out. Without that, Andy would still be blissfully unaware and Melanie's life would still be peachy. So who is to blame? Both. One more than the other? At this point it doesn't really matter. Both will have to deal with the fallout in their own way.

BFletch651 (Guest), April 30th, 2018, 8:20 am

Ah, Cristo. Humility is just not in your skill set.

Also, I would love to hear Sam's thoughts just now.

Guest, April 30th, 2018, 8:36 am

They're both guilty of different things. Melanie is guilty of cheating on Andy, and she will pay dearly for it. Christo is guilty of being a shitty friend and a relationship wrecked, and he's acting as if he had done absolutely nothing wrong.

Futura (Guest), April 30th, 2018, 10:39 am

I for one am glad Andy found out, because he had a right to know. From personal experience, it's better to know now than too far in the future. They just shouldn't have slept with each other. It just sucks that everything is falling apart like it is. Despite not feeling sorry for the consequences the character's are facing, I feel for every one of them because life is caving in on itself and it's never fun.

Gibson Twist, April 30th, 2018, 11:21 am

@BFletch Swear to Gord, my original comment for this page was "Imagine Sam's internal monologue right now."

Both Mel and Christo are responsible (as have been said many times in the comments) the difference being Christo is more guilty of a failure of personal character where Mel is guilty of a faiure in relation to Andy. I don't really think Melanie is blaming Christo for her noe ruined relationship (not fully at least, she looked pretty self-aware of her own role in this on the page after the deed). This looks more like venting.

It’s a messy situation, just like real life. A friend of mine once said, “Nobody is as bad as the worst thing they’ve ever done, or as good as the best thing.” They’re just people, and ordinary people make mistakes, even if it doesn’t excuse them from the consequences.

At this point I’m more concerned about Andy, I hope Peter goes to see if he’s all right.

PS: Thanks for sharing this amazing art and story with us Gibson.

Rexhinalt (Guest), April 30th, 2018, 2:37 pm

If Christo were agreeing that he is equally wrong here, I'd be fine with it; what he's doing here is pushing the blame completely onto her. "I am the smoothest seducer in the world and it is your fault that you went along with it!". As I said before in a previous comic, she is guilty of one count. Christo has several. He took advantage of Peter's indecision and slept with the girl Peter wanted. He slept with Peter's boss's daughter when expressly asked by Peter not to, and endangered Peter's employment status. These are the transgressions we know about; he's undoubtedly inserted himself into other relationships (official and not) as well.

Gus (Guest), April 30th, 2018, 3:36 pm

Christo does make a valid point: she freely choose to cheat on Andy and sleep with Christo, it's not like she was coerced into it. It takes two to tango, as the saying goes, and she needs to own up to her role in what happened.

That being said, Christo's being a real dick about this, considering the night's events came as a result of him not thinking before he ran his mouth. He should have some remorse about the people who have been hurt, because like Melanie, he freely made that choice.

Don't need sass in an argument

Patt (Guest), May 1st, 2018, 2:56 am

Rexhinalt, couple things. 1) Jackie was all over Christo like Vikings on a boat. 2) she's Peter's boss' little sister (yeah still shitty but much different) 3) Peter kept his feelings for Michelle wrapped up pretty tight. Remember, everyone thought he wanted to be with Lauren. 4) It doesn't seem like Christo's saying he did nothing wrong, just that Mel needs to take her share if the blame (thought I admit this is subjective)
I'm not saying Christo's perfect, but don't make him into a monster. He's just a guy who's made some mistakes.

finally not a post about suicide (Guest), May 1st, 2018, 4:40 am

Christo and Melanie both made bad choices, but Christo's made a lot more of them (and made them at the expense of his friends). Melanie is the one looking at the very real possibility of homelessness in addition to the loss of her partner and friends.

Plus, did everyone forget Christo being an unsufferable ass to Lauren when everyone just thought Rick was into her? And that wasn't even an issue of anyone actually cheating.

Thank you
Just wanted to say "Thank you" Gibson, your comic is hitting very close to home and opens up all the old wounds but it also helps with the healing.

Teaspoon (Guest), May 1st, 2018, 2:09 pm

He Knew
Christo knew exactly what he was doing, and it is obvious he did not care. He had no guilt in his decision. I think he is the type of guy who just doesn't care if all the bridges burn. Melanie is also at fault as well. the sad thing is that Melanie in this case will walk away damage and Christo will just walk away. I HAD a friend like this.

slade (Guest), May 1st, 2018, 4:37 pm

similar thing
Going through an extremely close resembling thing right now with my now ex best friend,he's lost a lot of friends(myself included) because of his choices and attitude doing things excatly like this,he even let it slip like Christo did.all I can say is Christo better be prepared to be a lonely man,its one thing to be a prick but another to be a prick to your family.

happybunnyntx, May 1st, 2018, 5:55 pm

@Kotire It was a dark time, and a source of the memory gaps for me. For some reason not getting to talk about everything happening kept some details from cementing themselves. Here's hoping people can be cool.

Kevin_Redcrow, May 5th, 2018, 10:14 am

Misremembering Things
@Gibson Twist:

Not only is it easy to misremember details and events because the story is a long time unfolding; many readers such as myself are following a lot of other webcomics over a long period of time.

I'm going to take extra care about comments in the future.

On another comic comment section, someone had replied to something I had said, telling me in essence "No, that character is not thinking that, it was established that this is not the case".

I replied asking for the reference, but haven't received one yet.

Long story short, comments can easily turn into a cluster fuck.

Onyxlight, May 9th, 2018, 2:14 pm

I didn't see this as Christo trying to make himself blameless as much as he was not tolerating her making him the ONLY "bad guy" in a disaster of both of their making. She blatantly said "YOU ruined my life" when in fact she played a huge hand in that fallout herself but wasn't taking ownership of that. Sure it's a very human thing to do when upset but that doesn't make it truthful or "right"

That being said she was the one in a committed relationship so if I had to give someone the lion's share of the bad juju to one of them it would be Melanie but that is just my humble opinion. She is not in some 3rd world country where women have no rights... if she wanted to be free and single all she had to do was break up with Andy like Lauren did with Sam or Peter did with Kara. She didn't have to keep playing "the good little girlfriend" It probably would have hurt Andy less if she had just broken up with him after the infidelity so he wouldn't feel as if he's been played for a fool and lied to for weeks.

Christo may have let it slip but it was far from intentional. It wasn't something he did maliciously to hurt her or Andy. That is the thing about lies or deceptions of any nature or sort...the nuances are hard to recall and keep straight.

Love @Gibson Twist comment about none of them being righteous or demons... that is very true. They are human, thus flawed, like all of us.
