So wraps up Pictures of You Book Seven, Disintegration. I'm a little wild right now, but you probably figured that.
This is one of those scenes that actually happened, one I tried to represent faithfully. The major difference is that in real life, my friend chased after the bus to press the book against the window next to me, almost got run over and pissed the bus driver off, and I couldn't see what he'd written until he stepped back. Then I cried like the biggest asshole. I had to cut it down for the page, I hope the sentiment is there.
This is, of course, not the end of Pictures of You with one more volume left to come, Book Eight - Everything's Alright Forever. Stay tuned.
Feeling emotional at this point! I've been reading Picture of You since the very, very early days when it was still black and white, and it feels like the journey is almost over - I'll miss checking it every Monday-Wednesday-Friday!
Dang. Should have left us guessing. Now we can edit in our own messages :P
I'm going to have to take the time to go back and reread the whole thing. Its been so long I hardly remember everything that's happened that wasn't recent, except the strong feeling of attachment I have to these characters. Final stretch soon in looking forward to it.
The end is nigh
It's hard to fathom the next volume being the last. I remember when I first chanced upon this comic, 10 years ago. I couldn't help but to be drawn in, it mirrored some of my own experiences during my early 20's, and I found myself connecting with the characters through their ups and downs. I'd laugh at Mulligan's antics, sympathize with Wiley's struggles, I cheered when Peter gave Devon a long overdue beating, and lamented when he and Michelle could never catch a break to make things work. It's been a long journey, but I have faith that everything will work out for the best in the end. Looking forward to the finale and seeing what the future holds for the cast.
