I know it's a Canadian pastime to hate Toronto, but personally I love the place. Some love here to the neighbourhood where I spent most of my time, the Bloor and Bathurst area. Once upon a time, there was a delightful comic shop called The Beguiling which offered little to no superhero fare (I understand it was sold and the new owners changed that policy) next to an enormous lightbulb factory called Honest Ed's which I hear has been torn down. I chose not to draw Honest Ed's here because I don't hate myself, but photos are easily Googleable.

So you're hatin' on T'ronto with your pals the other dayee...
Canada is the world's weirdest empire.

In a good way though, fortunately.

Not Canadian, but I like Toronto too.

I’m not Canadian either, but ...
I’ve been to several Canadian cities* several times each, and I’ve admired and enjoyed each of them. Otherwise they didn’t seem that similar —— to me. YMMV.

Toronto, which Toronto?
It was a decade between trips to Toronto. The first time, I loved it: the wonderful Victorian neighborhoods, the street life, the restaurants. This time, I discovered that some of the Victorian neighborhoods are now buried under high-rises, and ugly ones at that. The street life can still be good, but it isn't as ubiquitous. The restaurants are still OK. But let's not talk about affordability! I really miss the old Toronto.

Ha, I went to Beguiling once when I was 13 for a comic book I couldn't find at my local store. It was one of my first solo trips out of the Beaches and into downtown. Fond memories.
