Don't believe him!

Poor girl. Good job at portraying this too.

Also, I'm jealous of your bathroom fixture rendering abilities (nice potty).

Sal Monella, October 8th, 2009, 10:10 pm

kick the bugger!

sentiashinou, October 8th, 2009, 10:20 pm

Whether or not Melanie should believe him, I think Devon believes what he's saying, which is a little bit sad. Dude needs help.

Not that Melanie should be the one to help, or even forgive him. Which, I think she knows that, too, but I'm anxious to see what she actually does about it.

amiko_16, October 8th, 2009, 10:24 pm

*insert sounds of sputtering incoherent rage*

Spazzy Tanuki (Guest), October 8th, 2009, 11:09 pm

The part that bothers me the most is that she said he promised it would never happen "again", meaning he's pulled this crap in the past. They both need to get help, especially poor Melanie.

LoneSmoker (Guest), October 8th, 2009, 11:14 pm

The worse thing, if my memory servers me right, it's that after the lil'f**k Devon, she get another hitter...

cals (Guest), October 8th, 2009, 11:33 pm

"never again" she says, like we're supposed to believe that now. LEAVE HIM. go tell big brother. *claps hands impatiently*

Evergrey06, October 8th, 2009, 11:56 pm

"Never again"? Really? And then he says it's not his fault, it's Patrick and his friends?

Crazy, delusional bastard.

Strife (Guest), October 9th, 2009, 12:17 am

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD! Don't listen to him pleas. "Never again"?! Once should be too many. Leave him... Leave! Don't fall for that "I don't mean to hurt you..." "I just get so frustrated" bullshit.

Jodie (Guest), October 9th, 2009, 12:34 am

See kids this is why you don't do drugs

RadicalTrain, October 9th, 2009, 1:04 am

"I never would but I already did 'cause I'm a douche."

Runny mascara is not suiting for pretty blondes.

Ryuuichi, October 9th, 2009, 3:08 am

I was sort of expecting this, too bad I was right. Little fucker. *cracks knuckles menacingly*

thealmightymoo, October 9th, 2009, 6:59 am

she should bitch slap him back tbh

or a nice swift kick to the nuts :D

darkamnios, October 9th, 2009, 7:33 am

Time for her to shine
..And hopefully prove that she knows better -which deep down seems that way- and for once do the right thing for her.
They both need help at this point.. But she shouldn't have to fix him.
Go, Go Mr. Gibson!

Virginia (Guest), October 9th, 2009, 7:40 am

...Wait, everyone's always trying to break them up? Devon is doing a fabulous job by himself, no help needed.

xkrazydog, October 9th, 2009, 8:14 am

Fascinating as he accused her of being a slut a good 2 pages ago >3>;...

AshleyOutloud (Guest), October 9th, 2009, 8:25 am

"Never again," he says. This is not a Lifetime movie Melanie, get the hell out of there and GO TELL PETER!
Do it.

Lazy Rei (Guest), October 9th, 2009, 9:10 am

Take note that this is the apology stage of the cycle of abuse I was talking about.

Dormitator (Guest), October 9th, 2009, 10:08 am

Erm, okay Devon, reality check: "You know I'd never do anything to hurt you" does not come across convincing when her face still aches from your smack.

(RadicalTrain summed it up nicely.) Great job on Mel in the last panel. And I petition for a wallpaper where we see the combined One Inch Punch beat Devon into a pulp. On stage. With Christo as the emcee.

H0lyhandgrenade, October 9th, 2009, 10:45 am

She's not gunna leave him, is she...

jd_singer, October 9th, 2009, 2:34 pm

"never AGAIN" ?

That's it. Someone's dead.

argh (Guest), October 9th, 2009, 3:49 pm

only two results come from this. either she runs and hides, or stays and dies.

i've seen it.

Aenigma (Guest), October 9th, 2009, 4:49 pm

I miss Twist's blurbs with each post.. even if it's a line or two.

Andrewthedespoiler (Guest), October 9th, 2009, 7:50 pm

Run. Run. For God's Sake's Run.

Barb (Guest), October 10th, 2009, 6:02 am

I must say I feel sorry for both of them, really. I guess if *everyone* really *does* dislike him, as seems to be implied, it must be really difficult when the only person he does have, appears to supporting his enemies. As terrible as it is, I personally think Melanie recognizes he mightn't have anyone else to go to and is thus probably far too forgiving of his actions. I really appreciate the writing of the comic, which gives such a nice spectrum of the issue, as opposed to it being a clear cut issue with an obvious good solution.

SuperBiasedMan, October 10th, 2009, 9:33 am

@Barb: One thing you can't forget though is you need to wonder whether 'everyone' disliking Devon was before or after he started acting like this.

Gaylegee (Guest), October 10th, 2009, 1:04 pm

*facepalm* Melanie, baby, I tell you this because I love you and consider you a (webcomic) friend...Once a beater, always a beater and Mr. Gibson you effing rock at proving how some women who suffer through this really do believe their man when he says 'I'll never do it again'--even when it happens again.

mirandamarquez (Guest), October 11th, 2009, 1:07 pm

Another excellent sub story, Mr Twist.

Another excellent page.

The ability to make people care about characters in a story is a rare gift.

In her shoes, I'd be coming out of that bathroom with the bleach spray in my hand and blinding the misogynistic, pathetic little bastard before going to work on him properly....except that I wouldn't be there after the first time.

Astonishingly good story telling, thank you for doing this.

naejembocaj, October 14th, 2009, 8:42 pm

This is the part where I should throw a hadouken at the guy. Too bad he's a fictional character...

TheVoicesTalkToMe, March 13th, 2012, 9:19 pm

You put this nicely...must
