Time for her to shine
..And hopefully prove that she knows better -which deep down seems that way- and for once do the right thing for her.
They both need help at this point.. But she shouldn't have to fix him.
Go, Go Mr. Gibson!
Erm, okay Devon, reality check: "You know I'd never do anything to hurt you" does not come across convincing when her face still aches from your smack.
(RadicalTrain summed it up nicely.) Great job on Mel in the last panel. And I petition for a wallpaper where we see the combined One Inch Punch beat Devon into a pulp. On stage. With Christo as the emcee.
I must say I feel sorry for both of them, really. I guess if *everyone* really *does* dislike him, as seems to be implied, it must be really difficult when the only person he does have, appears to supporting his enemies. As terrible as it is, I personally think Melanie recognizes he mightn't have anyone else to go to and is thus probably far too forgiving of his actions. I really appreciate the writing of the comic, which gives such a nice spectrum of the issue, as opposed to it being a clear cut issue with an obvious good solution.
*facepalm* Melanie, baby, I tell you this because I love you and consider you a (webcomic) friend...Once a beater, always a beater and Mr. Gibson you effing rock at proving how some women who suffer through this really do believe their man when he says 'I'll never do it again'--even when it happens again.
The ability to make people care about characters in a story is a rare gift.
In her shoes, I'd be coming out of that bathroom with the bleach spray in my hand and blinding the misogynistic, pathetic little bastard before going to work on him properly....except that I wouldn't be there after the first time.
Astonishingly good story telling, thank you for doing this.
