"You want I should answer it?"
Don't know if this is just a local dialect thing for the area where this story is occuring but I can vouch for it being a completely normal thing to hear, especially as everyone gets a little wobbly at a party.
I like it how completely disinterested that lass next to Mulligan looks. But then again it actually looks like the exact same expressions as those two on the last panels of the previous page... ... Figures.
Panel 2: next up for what? Do they have an open mike session here? I scratched my head for some time until, while looking for something else, the title of the chapter landed in front of my eyes. That's if what Yayness and I suspected about the "party favours" eight pages ago is confirmed.
Panel 3: "You want I should answer it?" - Glori, I'm no grammar expert, but if memory serves the phrase has been used in Watchmen (the comic), chapter 2, page 2, panel 3, by Sally Jupiter (the first Silk Spectre). I can't check the original version (I must have lent it to a friend), but my french version let me know the exact place. So Glori and madhorseman, yup, Gibson Twist's syntax here is backed by none other than Alan Moore.
Panel 4: Interesting how Alexander looks down. Could it be that he's embarrassed now that he is not emboldened by a hot night of sex with Patrick? Kara's expression is great too. I love that half-smile.
Panel 5: Speaking of smiles, I can't help feeling those two lines besides the corners of her mouth make Melanie's face somewhat strained. Unless I be mistaken it's her biggest grin so far (and that's saying something), but there is something ...
Panel 6: Patrick's face is the best I've seen on him so far. I can't wait for Anotheryaoifreak to gush over him. And Christo seems to have had quite the helping of "stuff" already judging by his left eye. (Patrick being preparing more still, apparently.) More surprising is Sam's sober reaction. He almost seems worried. Come to think of it, he may be the one in the gang who best knows Devon (from preceding him in the radio station) and might have the same fears I have about the party's aftermath.
Oh, and "La nuit étoilée" makes another appearance. I hope the ghost of Vincent Van Gogh is smiling.
Panel 7: Patrick recovers fast. I'm surprised by the reaction of the guy next to him. What does he know? And I like Melanie's determined expression. If only she could be so resistant with Devon ...
Shikamaru_Nara, you remind me that I meant to mention that should Wiley score soon, that will leave Mulligan and Kara to be the only ones in the gang never to have appeared to have sex. I'm assuming that Lauren and Sam do. We can further assume that Kara isn't a virgin since she used to date Andy. So that leaves Mulligan ...
I'm really hoping Patrick just lets Melanie have fun tonight. Because I have a feeling there are going to be serious repercussions from Melanie attending this party and I want her to have at least one good night.
Of course Mulligan is more or less bound to have lost his earlier, but I also like the idea of that extra-cool character having yet to score.
(And remember that at parties, there may always be dope-heads trying to get stuff from him at the worst possible moment. "Hi, I'm Sandy Green." "Pleased to meet you, I'm Mulligan." "Yes, Andy told me about you. You seem to be quite the helpful friend." "You don't know the half of it -" "HEY MULLIGAN! I NEED SOME SHIT NOW! I'LL GIVE YA WHATEVER YA WANT BUT PLEAAAAASE *WHINE* GIVE ME SOME! GIVE ME SOME! GIIIIIIIVE ME SUUUUUHMMM!" "Get lost with your head in a car tire, you freak! So, Sandy, you were saying ... hey, where did she go?")
(Thinking back on it, Mulligan isn't all that cool. Peter's description makes him sound more jumpy than calm.)
