Special Thursday Update!

Yup, four pages this week to finish off the chapter, and we finally see the tattoo...that we've seen before...anyway, some folks have been asking about the image and this is it! For those of you, come back for a special Saturday extra.

Also, for any Smack Jeeves members who are not forum visitors, nominations are currently underway for the first SJ Awards! There are some truly fantastic comics hidden in various corners around the site, more than I could possibly plug on this page, so I'd encourage you all to visit the nomination discussion, click some links and maybe offer your own nomination suggestions. Find it here:

oh so THAT's where that picture comes from

Imi, January 14th, 2010, 10:11 am

You know, I've been telling myself for a long time that I should read this, then get scared by the length (derp) and put it off and then realise I should read again but then it's BIGGER. Sigh.

So, starting...sometime soon, I will catch up with this comic. Because I really do like your art and the fact you draw nipples on men and thick eyebrows.

tezzle, January 14th, 2010, 10:16 am

You heard it here, folks. Man nipples: Gets you more readers. God bless the internet.

darkamnios, January 14th, 2010, 11:56 am

updates make me happy
And we see the infamous picture and tattoo (again) although I dont remember seeing that mole, birth mark before.

Anyways, yay for man nipples?.. and Saturday specials!

Yay and Nay
Yay on the Tat! Nay on the Jew. Jews don't get tats, its against our religion MAJORLY. He could never be buried in a Jewish cemetery now. Just pointing that out. But a big fan of the comic, and looking forwards to more UPDATES!

meandthemoon (Guest), January 14th, 2010, 3:04 pm

Yeah it's against our religion majorly but a lot of Jewish cemeteries are now coming around to the fact that some kids just get tats when they're young and stupid and will, in fact, bury Jews with tats. Just fyi ;)

Funny how Andy's smile looks much nicer in the banner. I can't really tell what makes the difference, though I guess it's the eyebrows. He looks friendly defiant here.

I like how the photograph gets a speech balloon.

Mr Twist, cool new avatar. Granted, it doesn't have blue skin or a feline nose (hee hee), but still.

Imi: there's no hurry to start. The longer you wait to catch up, the more pages you can take in all at a time. Alternatively, you could read it book by book. Take up book 1 now and leave the others be for some time.

Shick: read page 2 of chapter 2.16, Home for the Holidays, for a glimpse of Andy's views on religion.

And this picture of him tattooed has been around for quite some time. The tattoo has actually gotten smaller and simpler. (Though I still can't figure out the connection to "One-Inch Punch". darkamnios, Anotheryaoifreak, or other tattoo specialists, if you would be so nice ...

I want to be the prophet Chuck...
Nice page as always!

jd_singer: sorry to break it to you, man, but the pic is one in the same. Hey, if you stare too hard it all just becomes a blur, right?

Oh, and I know plenty of Jews with 'toos (more than without ;P). Crazy-ass! People not following their religions to a "t"! What is the world coming to?

Beenjammin, January 14th, 2010, 11:55 pm

Is there anyway
Can we get a flat version of that tattoo by any chance? ;)

I just unlocked One Inch Punch for modern warfare 2 and I wear it proudly

jd_singer, January 15th, 2010, 2:37 am

Rori: I'll have to disagree with you on this. Quite some time ago, there was a break in regular updates, that Mr. Twist filled with various full-page pictures of Pictures of You (Michelle getting, unsurprisingly, the lion's share).

I distinctly remember one of them was of Andy in a similar three-quarters pose with a large tattoo over his upper arm, one much larger and more involved than what we see here. I'm not sure he was topless or just in a sleeveless shirt, but the difference was unmistakable. That tattoo was quite a bit unsettling to me; this one looks like a very classy logo. I wouldn't have been struck so much by it.

Among the pictures were one, two, maybe three pictures that showed several photographs scattered on a floor or table or anything flat; maybe Andy wearing the tattoo was one of said photographs and not a full-page picture. But the tattoo was different.

That being said, Mr. Twist specifically said then that these pictures weren't part of the story, just something to help us wait for the next chapter or book. So they aren't canon, and for all intents and purposes within the story, the tattoo we see on this page is indeed the only one Andy ever had on his shoulder.

Also, I've been searching but could not find this set of pictures in the published pages, whether here or on DrunkDuck. So I admit I have no proof, but believe me, Scully, I did see it. (Actually, one of these multi-photograph pictures looked like the one that is currently up on DrunkDuck informing the readers that a new and improved version is being uploaded on the same site with a different address, except I don't remember seeing a picture of Christo pointing like that - and that Andy didn't have the same tattoo, among other things.)

Oh, and nice new avatar too, except for a second I mistook you for Mr. Twist.

Nico (Guest), January 15th, 2010, 6:04 am

jd_singer, i don't know if we're both thinking of the same pictures, but if so you are referring to the snapshots by Vin Tabulka - but still there is the same tattoo as above, on Peter (although bigger and on the right shoulder whereas here he just got it on the left shoulder; but as you said, the snapshots are not part of the story).

I don't remember seeing Andy show off any other tattoo, but I'll check again.

cals (Guest), January 15th, 2010, 8:16 am

OMG, do you watch Supernatural too? You just got more awesome. Andy was looking hot in that last panel there.

jd_singer, January 15th, 2010, 9:13 am

Nico: I wasn't referring to Vin Tabluka's excellent Snapshot. There are indeed photographs scattered on a table on page 3, and you do see Peter's tattoo indded. Indeed, it appears on his right shoulder there while Andy made it on his left one in this chapter, but maybe he got another one for dedication. Or maybe the Snapshot was filmed in a mirror. It's a stylish thing to do.

But I wasn't talking about this at all: the pictures I was thinking of came out much earlier, maybe even before the first series of Snapshots. It was a bit like the "My Tribe" set - related stuff that didn't relate directly to the story at hand. Except I can find that "My Tribe" set.

But it did exist too.

Gibson Twist, January 15th, 2010, 9:15 am

jd_singer - It's the same picture. The only difference here is the background is green.

Also, not that I don't appreciate the fanship, but you might spend too much time thinking about this comic, or at the very least, too much time coming back to read the comments. Just a thought.

jd_singer, January 15th, 2010, 5:07 pm

Mr. Twist: we'll have to disagree on this tattoo stuff as I can't seem to find those drawings and doodles again - I seem to remember you said you'd take them out some time after publishing them, which may explain it. (Yes, another explanation is that I dreamed it up, but I won't believe that. I have never dreamed a dream of this comic that I remembered.)

As for the time I spend thinking about this comic, I blame you. Make it less good and we'll talk. (Just kidding here, folks.) Seriously, what with all the foreshadowing you've given us, I think it only natural to try and gather hints of what is to come.

(And I blame my chattiness on coming back to read comments. Old habit of mine. You should see the bleedinghearted mess I left on the Electronic Tigers website, particularly on the Right Left Center pages, that tackle political topics.)
