Bishop Street Soundtrack!
Long-awaited and long overdue, half-forgotten and half-asleep, here it is, finally, the Bishop Street Soundtrack! This is the second incarnation of the third Pictures of You playlist, the first one having been lost to the ages in a vanished notebook. It suits, then, that there are more than a few tracks on here that will be alternate versions to the ones most of you know. Also, there is one song on this list that breaks my rule for the soundtracks...first person to tell me the rule and the song gets a cameo in the comic!
Burn - Cure
Change - Blind Melon
The Old Apartment - Barenaked Ladies
Summertime Blues - Blue Cheer
Androgynous - Crash Test Dummies
Betterman - Pearl Jam
Summertime Rolls - Jane's Addiction
Devil's Haircut - Beck
Run and Hide - Watchmen
Bitch - Rolling Stones
Sunny Side of the Street - The Pogues
Misguided Angel - Cowboy Junkies
Look For The Silver Lining - Chet Baker
Fade Into You - Mazzy Star
Happy Xmas - Sarah McLachlan
Waterfall - Stone Roses
Here Comes Your Man - Pixies
Edge of the World - Faith No More
All Apologies - Sinead O'Connor
Big Yellow Taxi - Joni Mitchell
Don't Dream It's Over - Crowded House
Come On Up To The House - Tom Waits
Nothing here is hard to find online, but please refrain from illegal downloading. Piracy isn't theft, but it's still piracy and it makes you a right cunt.

I don't know the rule, but as a kiwi I love that there's a Crowded House song on the list. Good taste :D

Is it 'Misguided Angel' by the Cowboy Junkies, and the rule is 'No country music', as per
'The Rules 6'?
genesisstrain (Guest), July 10th, 2010, 2:22 pm
This is Christmas - Sarah McLachlan
No Christmas music on your playlists when it's not Christmas?
darkamnios, July 11th, 2010, 8:51 am
my guess is the same as EchoSix..
I wanna know the rules though!
Kotire, July 11th, 2010, 9:24 am
Yeah. He got it. I see no other mention of rules anywhere. The full rule is:
"6. No loud music before 11am, except Charlie Parker and Art Blakie. Country Music is not allowed at any time."
As seen here: http://picturesofyou.smackjeeves.com/comics/318362/2-04-the-rules-6/

Well that's awesome Mr Twist, I'm so going to get these songs, most of them are what I listen to anyways XD Thumbs up and a big thank you for the list xD
Gibson Twist, July 12th, 2010, 4:49 am
Hey guys, I said MY rule, not Christo's. I have a lot of country music in my collection. Blue Rodeo, early Crash Test Dummies, Neko Case, Hank Williams III, Johnny Cash, Be Good Tanyas, Cowboy Junkies...it's a long list, man!
Believe it or not, genesisstrain got the song right, though not the reason. I'll give him or her the cameo (which means he or she has to email me at gibson_twistATyahooDOTcom with a picture or at least good description,) but I'll give another one to whomever can tell me the reason first.

I'm just a little sad. Missing Kung Foo Fighting.
darkamnios, July 12th, 2010, 7:49 am
aww, my other guess was as well as genesisstrain lol but yay for them for gettign it right!
as for the reason... no covers from the Beatles? (well technically John Lenon)

So This is Christmas
I'm guessing it's because a song is supporting a religiously specific holiday?
Kotire, July 12th, 2010, 9:23 pm
Then I have know idea. I must have missed that one...
Gibson Twist, July 13th, 2010, 6:04 pm
One last hint...all of the other songs in these soundtracks share a single, simple common characteristic that this song lacks.
Zmoore0890, July 13th, 2010, 7:23 pm
All the songs on the above list are pre 2000 aside from "This is Christmas" by Sarah McLachlan, which was 2006. My guess is the rule that no songs can be on the list that wouldn't actually be around for Pictures of you. We haven't had an exact year given (to my knowledge) but that's my thought. Almost all of these songs are from the 90s, with a few falling before, but only that one falling after.
PhoenixAflame, July 13th, 2010, 7:38 pm
That makes sense, Zmoore. I was going to guess that all of the songs have full drums except Happy Christmas
Gibson Twist, July 13th, 2010, 8:56 pm
Ding! ZMoore, you are correct. Email me a couple of photos of yourself and you'll have your ass a cameo!
This was fun. I think I should do this more often.
Kotire, July 13th, 2010, 9:48 pm
That make much more sense. Good one.
Ben_ (Guest), July 13th, 2010, 11:12 pm
dang, I was hoping for it :O

"Androgynous," The Waterboys
"Androgynous," The Replacements
I'm not a Waterboys expert, perhaps a live cover?
Gibson Twist, August 1st, 2010, 1:06 pm
I don't know what I was thinking listing The Waterboys. Of course, it's a Replacements song, but the version I meant to list was by Crash Test Dummies. There's also a Joan Jett version. As far as I know, the Waterboys have no recorded version of it. Cheers!

Too Little, Too Late
I am so sad that I'd been mulling this over for a day, and come to the appropriate conclusion after a quick googling.
And then read the comments and found out that I'd discovered the comic too late to chime in. Woe and lament. Keep up the good work, Twist, I'm watching your comic. : )
